Giving her heart to a mortal wasn’t something the First Fate planned. Losing him nearly shattered her soul. Upon his death, Clotho swore never to love—or weave life—again. Hoping she’ll change her mind before it’s too late, Zeus commands the spinner of life to take a much needed vacation from her immortal responsibilities.
He had to hide his…
Dane is close to cracking the drug ring he’s spent the last two years infiltrating, but needs to perform one last heist to meet the head man and prevent an impending war. An undercover agent, he’s now on the run from drug lords, thieves and with the very woman whose tears make him forget his purpose.
Together they’ll find a way back from the dark.
Chloe will have to put her trust in the man she believes may have killed her fiance, or face an eternity on Earth. Without the desire for life, hope could slip through the cracks of time if he doesn’t love away her sorrow.
This is the first book in the Unspun Trilogy. A different author writes each novella in the series. I was anxious to start this story and was not disappointed in the least!
Chloe, or known as Clotho, the first fate and the fate responsible for creating life, has sworn off humans and visits to Earth after her fiancée was killed. She has vowed never to create again…until her father, Zeus, all but orders her out of Olympus and back to Earth for a little mental vacay. He also gives her a mission to find her two sisters….the other two fates, who have been hanging out on Earth without her.
Dane is a guy on a mission….he’s an undercover cop who has been in deep for the past two years. The last thing he needs is to be stuck on a bus next to a beautiful woman who happens to be reaching past his ruff and tuff façade with the tears she is silently shedding. Now he’s really in over his head, because he can’t leave her with the thugs that are about to ruin both of their lives if they stay on the bus…..next stop, it’s grab her, and run.
This story had me by the seat of my pants from the very first few pages. Ms. Firasek has created characters that not only can we relate to, but that we want to root for. Chloe is a heartbroken and feisty woman that may be down, but surely isn’t out! She may be taking her father’s orders by being on Earth but she surely isn’t one to sit and take crap from just anyone. Dane has got bad boy written all over him but the peeks we get into a softer side hiding beneath the surface makes us swoon. He is honorable and kind as well as tough as nails. Together, the two of them made me giggle when they bickered back and forth and pant when the tension between the two of them was steaming up my e-reader. I loved, loved, loved this story from beginning to end. I would love to see more of Dane and Chloe and see where their future after the “end” takes them! Thank you, Ms. Firasek, for an enjoyable read!
