Kindle Countdown to AAD Review….My Lord Vampire by Alexandra Ivy

Centuries have passed since Gideon Ravel dwelled among humans. Now he must infiltrate the cream of London society to earn the trust of one woman. Simone, Lady Gilbert, possesses an amulet of unimaginable power, and no concept of the threat that surrounds her. The ton’s gossip prepared him for her beauty and wit. But he is blindsided by her barely disguised sensuality and his growing need to possess her. . .

None of the idle aristocrats who vie for Simone’s attentions know about her past. To them, she is the sophisticated, worldly widow known as the “Wicked Temptress.” The truth would ruin her, and she has never been tempted to reveal it until now. Yet beneath Gideon’s bold, black-eyed stare is a hunger that demands satisfaction and complete surrender. . .and a secret far more dangerous than her own. . .

*****

This is the first in Alexandra Ivy’s Immortal Rogues Trilogy and is a fantastic beginning into a different take on the vampire world.

In the beginning we learn that vampires have left the human world long ago and now live in the Veil, a hidden realm created by Nefri, the most powerful vampire of all. Most are content to live away from the humans and enjoy a life spent quenching a thirst for knowledge rather than blood. That is until three vampires decide to leave the Veil and travel back to the human world with a plan to rule and destroy.

Nefri had created an amulet to keep the Veil safe and hidden, and has divided it into three pieces…one of which hangs around the lovely neck of Lady Gilbert, the “Wicked Temptress” of London’s aristocracy. Unfortunately, Lady Gilbert is unaware of the power she holds.

Gideon Ravel is a vampire enjoying life in the Veil but is suddenly tasked with guarding a beautiful young widow and keeping her, and the Veil, safe from the evil that is on the hunt.

Together, they must learn to trust one another and stay together in order to foil the plans of a vampire bent on stealing what isn’t his for the taking.

I enjoyed the fresh take on vampire life in this story. It was a welcome depart from the usual vampire stories written today. Lady Gilbert is a sassy and cheeky gal who is a treat to read about. She is quick witted and seems like a modern day woman regardless of the time this story is set in. Gideon is a cocky yet charming vampire who has intelligence and charm to spare….in other words, the perfect vampire! This was a very tame story in comparison to most vampire stories I have read but still just as enjoyable.

Thank you, Ms. Ivy, for a wonderful read and I look forward to the rest in the trilogy!
